Yayoi (弥生) is a character in Ju-on: The Beginning of the End and Ju-on: The Final portrayed by Yuina Kuroshima.

Background[]

Yayoi is Midori's older sister and Aoi's, Rina's and Nanami's friend. Seemingly closer to Nanami than others and more sympathetic towards her and her fears, she tries to reassure her to put her fears at ease as she and the others go exploring the house on the hill. While exploring the house, Yayoi comes across three crudely drawn Toshio's drawings depicting their respectful deaths. One that looks like someone being pulled under the bed-sheets, another with a bloody face and one with what looks like their lower jaw removed. Yayoi, Rina and Aoi laugh it off, not realizing the true meaning behind the drawings. After their visit, while playing basketball at school, she falls under the curse's incluence and feels sudden fatigue. She takes a rest from game and sees Toshio walking behind the stage curtain, making it move. She goes backstage and sees a closed piano. As she's about to turn away, she hears something banging on the piano keys and sees that it has mysteriously opened. Toshio then grabs her leg and disappears. Frightened, she runs to the school infirmary, but finds it empty. She goes to a bed and pulls the sheets over her. In bed, she finds Toshio's drawing of her death that she found at the house and throws it away in fear. And before she knew it, Toshio appeared under the sheet and dragged her under it, killing her, and both disappearing. Yayoi became the first victim in her group to be taken by the curse. Yayoi later appears as a giant apparition to Nanami in the train. Years later, she appears to Midori in a karaoke booth and kills her by throwing her into the ceiling, making her head stuck in it.

Etymology[]
